So, in the next round of stupidity, which I've also taken part in (although, as I say, I'm doing it more from a place of calling people out on their morals, not their political favorites; it's all fake, so you're just picking sides between two entities that are the same and probably also are predetermined), we have the "convicted felon" assertion.
Now, I truly, actually feel bad to take something away from these people who have spent literally seven or eight years geared up by the media to be angry about something that's meaningless, and this was their only destination—they really wanted this, and I truly would feel bad about taking away their paltry gift from the media.
That said, I will call out bullshit. Many people, who never mind are supposed to be the ones that respect prisoners (that's gone out the window, with how many seem to think "convicted felon" means bad person, which shows a lack of caring about the prisoners, as a general concept—also shown by them letting men into women's prisons, but that's another story), are using the term "convicted felon" as if it's a slam dunk, as if it means anything.
I'll tell you what it means, and I should know: It means you have been convicted, not even proven, but just convicted, of breaking a federal law. It doesn't mean you've done something in particular; it could mean you grew pot somewhere, or something.
In any case, to say "convicted felon," by itself, without referencing the crime, is to say nothing; the only thing it says is that you implicitly support the government to not only have good rules, but to enforce them accurately. Without a crime in the sentence, Donald Trump as a "convicted felon" means only one thing: That he was convicted of breaking a federal law. And that could be anything.
So, if you're calling him a convicted felon, just know that at best, you are revealing your admiration of the State. At worst, you don't even know what he's a felon for. But at no time did you ever say anything, at all, related to his Character!
It's unfortunate that almost nothing is said about an actual, intentional criminal also on trial in NY. https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/07/politics/bob-menendez-bribery-trial/index.html
This better not be about me.
